In today’s economy, more and more people are seeking massage therapy for its health benefits rather than for relaxation. This may be attributed to the increasing number of people who consult doctors and health professionals about massage for pain relief or postural dysfunction.
Your massage treatment will be based on goals that we will determine both in introductory sessions and during on-going visits. Since no two clients are alike, I will employ different types of massage techniques as needed to reach the outcomes desired. I may use any combination of the following modalities:
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing style of bodywork. An array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion are used. Benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body and enhanced mental clarity.
Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing trigger points or “knots” which may refer pain to other regions in your body and are built up due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points.
Myofascial Techniques are used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Fascia completely encases every muscle in the body so imbalances in the fascia can affect your range of motion and comfort level.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, light-touch approach that releases tensions deep in the central nervous system so that every other system in the body can relax and self-correct. It helps you naturally free yourself from pain, stress and discomfort.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, light-touch approach that releases tensions deep in the central nervous system so that every other system in the body can relax and self-correct. It helps you naturally free yourself from pain, stress and discomfort. It's performed on fully clothed clients on a comfortable massage table.
How Does it Work?
Using a gentle touch, I feel for imbalance in the body and then using certain hand placements, access restrictions in the fluid and membranous tissue. A position is held for a few minutes or longer depending on what the body requires for release.
Our bodies have the potential to heal themselves. However, things we experience every day from emotional or physical traumas can become embedded in our tissues, hampering or prohibiting the flow of fluid in the system (the craniosacral system consists of the central nervous system: the fluid and membranes around the brain and spinal cord). This imbalance can bring about a host of ailments.
How May I Benefit?
Craniosacral therapy may provide relief to a wide variety of conditions including:
- Stress-related dysfunctions - Anxiety
- Chronic pain - Depression
- Poor digestion - TMJ dysfunction
- Insomnia - Fibromyalgia
- Fatigue - Physical trauma
- Headaches - Emotional trauma
In general, Craniosacral Therapy is a good avenue for clients looking to address conditions for which traditional methods have been tried and been unsuccessful.
